Broccoli Sprout
The immature sprout of Broccoli has been found to have the same beneficial properties compared to the adult. However, studies show that the sprout contains exceptionally high quantities of some of the active constituents such as sulforaphane. On study found that extracts of 3-day-old broccoli sprouts were highly effective in reducing the incidence, multiplicity, and rate of development of mammary tumors in cancer induced animal models. In the same study extracts were found to have 10-100 times more actives than their mature counterparts. This evidence indicates that small quantities of broccoli sprout may protect against the risk of cancer as effectively as much larger quantities of mature vegetables.
