Indole-3-Carbinol
Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) is a naturally occurring compound that acts as an anticancer agent. A study published in 2003 in Cancer evaluated I3C's effects on cell cycling progression and cancer cell proliferation in human prostate cancer cells. In specific doses I3C was able to suppress the growth of prostate cancer cells by inhibiting essential steps in the in the cells cycling process. It also inhibits the production of a specific type of antigen that is indicative of prostate cancer.
