CarniBright ™ L-carntine
L-Carnitine is an essential chemical compound that plays a significant role in fatty acid metabolism. Carntine works as a transporter, shuttling fatty acid acyl groups across the mitochondrial membrane. Once inside the mitochondria, fatty acids can undergo ß-oxidation; which is an intermediate step in energy production needed for proper cell function. Carnitine which is most abundantly found in red meats and dairies has been found to have other effects on the body both apart from and related to its role in metabolism. Several studies have concluded that L-carnitine may play a significant role in the defense against diabetes II (Mingrone et al., 1999), osteoporosis (Cavazza, US Patent No. 6,335,038, 2002), and male infertility (Lenzi et al., 2003). In addition it has also been indicated as an effective anti-oxidant against lipid peroxidation (Steiber, Kerner, Hoppel, 2004).
